The Tarahumara Indians are one of the few authentically indigenous groups of Indians in North America still living much as their ancestors did for generations.  Many young Tarahumara are leaving their homes, where daily existence can be harsh and uncertain, in search of a modern life in the city. Yet with no education, most are reduced to begging, prostitution, and drug and alcohol abuse.

While Rancho Feliz does not encourage diluting the traditional Tarahumara way of life, we do want to provide the tools necessary – namely education – to those who choose to leave the canyon. In this spirit, Rancho Feliz is helping raise funds for the establishment of a Computer Learning Center at an orphanage in Batopilis, located in the bottom of the Copper Canyon. Here, with your help, children will soon have access to the same web-based learning opportunities found in the USA  - and across the globe.
